Stadium Of Light Hold 3 Course Meal For Mums

Families from across the North East are being invited to toast to their mothers in a special celebration at the Stadium of Light…

This Mothering Sunday (March 6th), the Sunderland venue will be hosting a Champagne reception, followed by a three course meal in its Riverview Brasserie.

The menu for the event, planned under the new SOL brand, will include a choice of four starters, main courses and desserts, ranging from homemade salmon and dill fishcakes to roast loin of pork and strawberry shortcake.

Other options include country style terrine, lemon and thyme buttered chicken, passion fruit and mango tart and a traditional cheese board.

All mothers attending the event, run by 1879 Events Management, will receive a complimentary gift to take away, while children can dine for half price to ensure it is a real family affair.

David Moses, General Manager at 1879 Events Management, said: “Mother’s Day is the ideal time for families to show their mum, grandmother or female head of the household how much they care.

“This year we’ve worked hard to ensure the afternoon will not only be sparkling and extra special but also affordable for everyone too.”

Mother’s Day at the Stadium of Light is priced at £26.95 per adult or £19.95 excluding the Champagne reception, and a 10 per cent discount is available for SAFC season card holders.

Tyneside Restaurants Offer Mother’s Day Prizes

Restaurants across Tyneside are serving up a special surprise for mums…

In honour of Mothering Sunday, four of the most popular venues are giving mums the chance to win a hamper of goodies.

Competition entry is open to all mums who dine at either The Sand Piper (at Cullercoats), The Runhead (Holburn Lane), Ryton or Scalini’s (at Osborne Road, Jesmond and Great North Road, Gosforth), on Sunday 6th March.

And the winners, picked at random from each venue, will enjoy a bottle of Prosecco, chocolates, sweets, a rose plant, bath salts and a voucher to dine at any venue owned by Newcastle-based Malhotra Group PLC.

To tempt mums to take part, each venue has also prepared a special Mother’s Day menu, offering a choice of starters, desserts and main courses, including their popular Sunday carveries and roasts.

At The Runhead, starters include chilli beef nachos and potato skins with cheese and bacon, followed by meats from the carvery, while The Sand Piper’s coastal-inspired menu includes North Sea fishcakes and fish and chips.

At Scalini’s, Jesmond, the menu features ham hock terrine and French onion soup starters, and rich desserts such as chocolate and orange truffle bar and strawberry Pavlova, while the Gosforth branch will lure diners with crab and rarebit toasties and coconut curried steamed mussels.

The Runhead and The Sand Piper are charging £10.95 for two courses and £12.95 for three.

At Scalini’s, customers can enjoy one course for £9.95, two for £13.45 and three for £15.95.

St. James’ Park Invite Mums Over For Tea

Mums can be wined, dined and serenaded on their special day, all within sight of Newcastle’s hallowed St James’ Park turf…

Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events, which runs the conference and banqueting facilities at the Newcastle United ground, has organised a special Mother’s Day lunch on Sunday 6th March.

Families can choose either a two or three course table d’hôte meal, prepared by Sodexo’s award-winning team of chefs, followed by a taster tour of the stadium.

Live entertainment will be provided by North East singer Tom Wyllie, and all mums will be given a gift as a memento of their special day.

The Mother’s Day Lunch at St James’ Park is priced at £18.95 per person for three courses, or £15.95 for two, with children aged under 12 dining at half price. Or, for an additional £10 per person, diners can opt for a private executive box overlooking the pitch.
